About Sandra Van Gilder


Sandra is a senior business leader with a successful record of executing strategic business plans and developing talent at all levels for complex global organizations. Her experience includes:
  • Leading business unit integrations following mergers while retaining top staff and clients.
  • Improving the client experience resulting in increased revenues.
  • Enhancing management practices leading to talent identification and development.
Sandra's expertise in executive coaching stems from more than 30 years of accomplishment in the financial services industry with JPMorgan Chase and its predecessor banks. She has tailored her services to mid- and senior-level executives from a variety of industries, most notably investment and commercial banking, professional services, and retail, operating independently and through DBM, a leading outplacement, career management, and coaching firm. Drawing on her background in financial analysis, line management, and as advisor to bank CEOs, she connects the C-level view of an enterprise with the talents and aspirations of the diverse individuals whom organizations must develop to remain competitive in a global environment.

Sandra is noted for her active listening skills, and her ability to earn trust and build relationships. She is experienced in identifying key skill sets that help executives map strategies in pursuit of new opportunities and for practical, constructive coaching to achieve results.

Sandra's distinguished career at JPMorgan Chase included the role of Senior Vice President in Human Resources with a focus on leadership, career coaching, diversity, and recruiting. Her previous responsibilities included leading the Midwest Private Client Services group for Bank One; serving as Chief of Staff for the CEO following the First Chicago/NBD merger; trading foreign exchange; and providing analytical support to the Asset and Liability Management Committee at First Chicago.

She received her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago with a concentration in Finance. She holds an undergraduate degree with a double major in Mathematics and French from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana, including a year of study at l'Université Catholique de l'Ouest, Angers, France. She received a certificate from the Summer Executive Coaching Institute at New York University, is MBTI® and DiSC® certified and completed the Career Transition Coaching certification training at DBM.

After pursuing careers and raising two daughters in Chicago, Sandra and her husband relocated to New York City in 2005. Sandra serves on the board of her co-op association and its finance committee; acts as advisor to Women Employed, a national advocate for women's economic advancement; and continues her study of French at l'Alliance Française.
